Sketchbook Dwellings was founded in 2018 when Matt Greenwell, Owner and General Contractor, left the corporate world to pursue his passion for restoring forgotten homes to their former beauty.
Since then, Sketchbook Dwellings has managed over twenty custom home renovation projects, including 7 complete gut rehabs and 2 new construction builds. During this time he was also contracted to lead growth, hiring and project management strategies for a regional construction firm, scaling revenue from $1 million to $5 million and was directly involved in more than 100 renovations. Matt prides himself on finding creative solutions for small spaces, and mixing period beauty with modern practicality that his homeowners love.
Matt is currently living in and restoring an 1893 Victorian home in the Frank Lloyd Wright Historic District in Oak Park, IL along with his wife, Sarah, three children- Lincoln, Eve, Arbor- and dog, Wrigley.
